Creating a Windows 8 Recovery Tool to Help You Recover from Disaster

0

Windows system is a very complicated system, if you agree. There are many things that can go wrong in Windows to make it impossible to boot. What are you going to do if one day the worst nightmare, Windows 8 won’t boot, came haunt you in the morning after you sit down in front of your computer ready to work? It would be a good idea having a bootable recovery media handy, if that ever happened, so that you can use it to at least boot into the recovery mode to start off a recovery process.

And, Windows 8 has this feature built right in the system to allow you to create a recovery drive with a USB flash drive, or CD-RW, or DVD, and then boot using that drive. Here is a quick step-by-step tutorial showing you how to create this tool in Windows 8.

Open Control Panel (press Win+X, and select Control Panel), type “recovery” in the search box at the top right corner, and click Create a recovery drive from the result list (figure 1).

The process will be finished within a minute or two. You will get a message confirming that the recovery drive is ready (Figure 4). Make sure to keep it in a place you can easily access to, and do hope that you will never have a need to use it.

Next time when things do go wrong, plug in the drive and restart the computer. You will boot into system’s recovery mode where you will be able to choose from a variety of options, such as using system restore, running an automatic repair, doing a refresh, or simple resetting your computer if you wish to start from scratch.

Conclusion

I think it’s worth mentioning here that this bootable recovery drive doesn’t include any of your data in it so do not use it as your back up tool. It’s merely just a drive that helps you boot into system’s recovery mode to start off the recovery process with a variety methods available.
