It sounds good, works so well and smooth, and most importantly it’s free without any manual setup.
Media Hint, a Garage 48 website, releases a free service that lets you access to US exclusive services like Netlix, Pandora, Hulu from anywhere in the world. All you need to do is add their browser add-on to your favorite browsers, currently only Firefox and Chrome are supported, and enjoy.
For Chrome, head over to Media Hint extension at Chrome Web Store, and add it to your Chrome.
For Firefox, head over to this add-on page on Mozilla, and add it.
Once you have it installed on either of your browser, you can start enjoying the streaming services you previously can’t access from locations other than US.
The services that currently Media Hint supports include Pandora, Netflix, hulu, and rdio. You probably won’t be able to other sites like facebook, twitter, if they are blocked from your location.
What’s behind the scene is just like all what other Proxy and VPN services do, connecting you to these US exclusive streaming services through a proxy from US soil. Because of this, I am pretty sure that it won’t be free forever, especially when it’s been used by a lot of people. The cost of hosting a server that delivers all traffics needed for streaming purpose is quite high.
But hey, it’s free at the moment, why not enjoy while we still can.
Update on Jan. 23, 2013
Apparently, Google has removed this extension out of its Chrome extension store. However, you can still follow this page and install the Chrome extension manually. It works smoothly without any differences.
