[Giveaway] Protected Folder – Ten Paid License Up to Grab [UPDATE: Winners Announced]

We are going to do another round of giveaway thanks to IObit ! Protected Folder is another product from IObit. Don’t judge by the name, not only it “Protect” your folder it also protects your files as well. Protected Folder in essence is a lock utility for Windows. It lets you to lock any kind file or folder by drag and drop into the app.

After your initial install, you will be prompt to enter a password. Be sure to remember this password and provide a hint if you feel the need.

To use the app, just drag anything into the blank area or click add to add files or folder that you would like to clock.

Once the files have been locked, by default it will be disappear from the Windows Explorer. There are some advantages when disadvantages when doing this. If you have hide the file you won’t be able to see not even if you have changed the folder setting to display hidden file. But if you choose to show the file, when you open locked folder or file you will see a blank file or access denied error message. It will not directly open this utility and ask user to enter password. You have to remember that this file is actually being locked by Protect Folder or else you will be losing this file forever.

As an example shown here, if you attempt to open the locked file (ex. a picture) then Windows Photo Viewer will tell you “can’t open this picture because you don’t have the correct permission to access the file location”

If you try to transfer this file to some other machine that doesn’t have Protect Folder installed, then it will show this image has no size.

Use this utility wisely if you want to hide or lock any file from whatever reason you might have. Just remember, when you uninstall this program it will require you enter the password and it will automatically unlock all the files that were previously locked.
