W7H Daily Update: Gmail Man, Mail Client Fight, IE Users Dumb

Microsoft’s Gmail Man Ad

It’s mostly for promoting their Office 365, an online Office Suite that directly competes with Google Apps which is still a few years ahead. It’s an old punch that doesn’t quite apply anymore, especially when comparing head-to-head with Google Apps Paid version, which doesn’t show ads at all. I also tend to agree with Google Operating System explaining that online email services already used algorithms to index messages to fight with Spam. If we want to blame, let’s blame the SMPT protocol, the foundation of email, that basically makes email messages so easy to be spied.

Mail Client Fight, Desktop or Web-based?

The Next Web did a brief survey on Google+ and found a strong trend towards the webmail, Gmail in particular. And then posted a comparison on both side of the world. Interesting to read.

Frankly, it’s a long term debate that doesn’t seem to have a clear winner in a foreseeable future. To me, both serves me well, Outlook at work, Gmail the other. Therefore, you should use whatever works for you and whatever you feel comfortable to use. After all, email is just one of your tools that should make your work easier, more efficient.

Stupid Study: Is Internet Explorer for the Dumb?

Well, I have to admit that this probably is the dumbest study I have ever seen. Despite whatever they studied, there shouldn’t  be a connection between IQ and a typical browser. However, naming a study like this does cause the buzz over the Internet, including a threaten with a lawsuit by IE users.

Report is here. Check it yourself if you have too much time to kill.
