Just like every major release Microsoft released before, there are number of tools that has or will be released just to help IT pros deploy the new software more smoothly. Thanks to the Technet for notifying the releases and changes.
First tool, Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit 4.0, is a powerful inventory, assessment, and reporting tool that runs securely on any computers without requiring the installation of agent software. It performs a detailed analysis of hardware and device compatibility for migration to Windows 7. It can be completed on the most windows platform, including Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2003 & 2008. It also can be run on VMware Virtual Platform, including ESX, ESXi, and VMware Server, for the recommendations how the physical boxes might be placed in a virtualized environment.
The second tool, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010, which currently in beta 2, is a solution accelerator for operation system and application deployment. It has the new features such as flexible driver management, optimized user interface workflow, and PowerShell that will definitely help simplify deployment and make IT pro’s job easier.
The third tool that will be released soon is the new Windows 7 and IE 8 Security Baselines Beta. As name states, it’s more focus on Windows 7 and IE 8.
I am pretty sure that there will be more tools and comprehensive guides available as the time gets close to the final release. We all will stay tuned.
