Java seems to have a very good relationship with Ask and McAfee but for those who don’t need either of their products it’s very annoying seeing them being promoted during the installation or updating of Java.
If this is the first time you are installing Java on your computer, you have no other choices but to be cautious during the installation. Uncheck these offers when prompted to get a clean installation of Java.
If you already have a version of Java installed, here is a way you can disable these offers automatically next time when you update your Java. Open Java Control Panel from Control Panel, go to Advanced tab, and check the last option in Miscellaneous called “Suppress sponsor offers when installing or updating Java“. Click OK to save the change.
If you don’t see the option in Advanced tab, you are probably still having a very old version of Java installed on your computer. Go to Java.com to get the latest version installed as soon as you can before it’s too late. And make sure uncheck all 3rd party offers when prompted during the installation.
Note that there might be a chance the option “suppress sponsor offer” gets reset to unchecked if the Java Control Panel gets updated.
