How To Set Up Keyboard Shortcuts for Installed Chrome Extensions

If you are a keyboard junkie who also happen to be a fan of Google Chrome, here is a quick tip that lets you to use customized keyboard shortcut to fire up any installed extension.

Click the sandwich icon (the menu button) in Chrome, go to More Tools, and Extensions. Or you can click chrome://extensions/ if you are visiting this post in Chrome.

Then, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, and click the Keyboard shortcuts link.

Then the Keyboard Shortcuts for Extensions and Apps dialog box pops up inside the page.

From there you can set up your own keyboard shortcuts to each installed Extensions. Just highlight the box next to the name of the Extension, and press key combinations to set it up. For example, as you can see from the screenshot above, I set the key Ctrl+Shift+P to Save to Pocket extension. Once I hit OK to save the settings, I can start using this key combination to save any articles I want to read later to Pocket without involving any mouse clicks.
