Notification is a quite nice feature in Windows 10. Integrated with Action Center, Windows displays all sorts of notifications from all kinds of sources, apps, alarms, reminders, incoming VoIP calls, and tips, tricks from Microsoft as you use Windows. While it could be useful knowing what’s happening on time, it also could be disturbing at the same time.
If you are working on something that you don’t want to be interrupted by any notifications, do you know that there is a Quiet Hours mode that you can turn on to silent all the notification until you turn it off?
Here is how you can do it.
Right-click the Action Center icon at the bottom right corner of the Taskbar and choose Turn on quiet hours.
The Action Center icon turns to something like below indicating that the Quiet Hours mode is enabled at the moment.
From now on, you will see no notifications popping out from the bottom of the screen until you turn the Quiet Hours mode off.
While we are in the context menu of the Action Center, you can also use the 3rd option “Don’t show number of new notifications” to hide the number of notifications you have received.
I love Quiet Hours on my Windows Phone. You can schedule Start and Stop times, and allow notifications of choice to occur any time, even while “quiet”.
Unfortunately Microsoft has decided that desktop/tablet Windows users wouldn’t find those features useful. Because who wants options?
