Today is the day and it’s time to update your Windows 8.1 to a newer version that offers a bunch of new features and enhancements.
The update, called Windows 8.1 Update (KB2919355), will be rolled out as part of April’s patch Tuesday. So you can have it downloaded and installed directly through Windows Update, which is recommended.
However, if you don’t see it show up there or you have Windows Update turned off, go straight ahead to the following update page and download the update from there.
One prerequisite before install this update though, you must be running Windows 8.1 and you must have the following update installed.
2919442 A servicing stack update is available for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2: March 2014.
To quickly verify if you have Windows 8.1 Update 1 installed, check out the top right corner of Start Scree. You will see a new Power Button standing out there indicating that you have the new update installed.
You may consider installing the following Feature Packs and Hotfix but it’s totally optional.
- KB2949621 (hotfix –
for Server 2012 only)
That’s it. Good luck updating your Windows 8.1 and enjoy the new features it brings.
