One Lenovo Yoga’s motherboard went dead the other day. After it was returned from repair center, it started to ask for BitLocker recovery key every time when it reboots. It doesn’t matter how many times you entered the key correctly, it just wouldn’t budge.
It’s annoying. Not only do you have to carry the key with you so you can find it every time when you need it, but it’s also hard to type the long 48-digit long right every single time. Luckily, it’s not a hard one to fix. Rather, it’s very easy if you know where to look.
1. Boot into Windows.
2. Open File Explorer, right-click the boot drive that has BitLocker turned on, and choose Manage BitLocker.
3. It opens up BitLocker Drive Encryption applet in Control Panel. Click Suspend protection.
4. Click Yes to confirm that you do want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
5. Then, in the same BitLocker Drive Encryption window, click Resume protection link.
6. That’s it. Reboot and it should no longer ask for the BitLocker recovery key.
Nope, not even close!!!
absolutely NOT! bad and irresponsible advise!
It helped me. Same problem but at the last step I needed to repair TPM and then to resume protection. I don’t know why some said NO. Good advice
I would like to have to Enter BitLocker Recovery Key at Every Reboot. what do I need to do?
Thank you.
it worked for me… like a charm! easily and immediately! THANKS!!!!
OK, worked by suspending bitlocker, however it would not let me enable again. Now I also have issues with Windows not accepting the pin for login, have to use the password. Very odd. Time to do some more digging. At least I don’t have to enter that string of numbers every login…
This worked perfectly for an issue where we had to replace a PC (same make and model), but keep the original drives. Thanks
It worked for me too. I pressed resume after I suspended it and it just worked.
Worked perfectly! Thanks
